Birmingham. The UK’s new Institute of Event Management has published the Minutes of its latest Stakeholder Meeting – with graphic impact. Over 20 leading personalities from across the meetings and events sector, plus colleges and universities actively involved in the industry, took part in the meeting at the NEC Birmingham.
They included Brian Pell the NEC’s Director of Operations who hosted the event, plus Giselle Ripken (Grass Roots), Richard Limb (President of NOEA), Jacinta Scannell (MD with The Conference Collective Ltd), Caroline Jackson (University of Bournemouth) and Chris Lawson (MCL Create Scotland).
The visual minutes were captured by Tim Caswell of Creative Connection who, according to IEM Chair Susan Spibey, “Wowed everyone who attended with his understanding and creative input on the ideas and frustrations, hopes and dreams involved in establishing the IEM as a major player in the national and international events sector.”
The meeting focused on creating the events profession, the complex reality of events and their global footprint. And there were updates on a range of events sector initiatives including UNICEO (the International Corporate Event Planners Network), the Trailblazer Apprenticeship Programme for Event Management, UK Government Events, the UK Meetings Show and the benefits of National Occupational Standards and Routes to Professional Recognition.
Susan Spibey added: “Our next meeting will take place during The Meetings Show in London’s Olympia complex, July 7 to 9. I’m hoping even more stakeholders will join us and that Tim will help us to “extend the conversation” aimed at driving the Institute into ever more creativity. The IEM now has over 40 professional stakeholders and support continues to grow.”
