Québec. Placed under the authority of Société immobilière du Québec and managed by Pomerleau, the expansion project of the Québec City Convention Centre is progressing well and on schedule. Over the recent months, the team collaborated with tradespeople to develop plans and choose materials and finishes. Work teams have just finished curetting the location. The coming weeks will be dedicated to sending invitations to tender for specializations. After this time, work will resume with a completion date of spring 2014.

CEO P.-Michel Bouchard announced that “The Québec City Convention Centre expansion project construction contributes $22 million directly to the Québec economy. In addition to the 233 jobs created by the project, the work will generate $4.3 million in tax and incidental tax revenue for the federal and provincial governments.” Besides creating tangible benefits, the $36 million investment from the Government of Québec for the expansion project will enable the Convention Centre to increase its economic impact and strengthen its role as a creator of tourist revenue.

Overlooking the Québec Parliament Building, the Kent Gate, and the Château Frontenac, the new 73,000 sq. ft. sector will contain nine multipurpose meeting rooms, a customer lounge, a boardroom, and prefunction spaces to facilitate networking. These new contemporary convention spaces with state-of-the-art technology will hold up to 2,000 people.
