The foundation stone for Vicenza Expo Centre’s new hall has been laid, marking the start of a major redevelopment project led by Italian Exhibition Group (IEG). The two-storey, 22,000-square-metre expansion will modernize the venue and enhance its capacity to host global events. Designed by Hamburg-based Studio GMP and renowned architect Volkwin Marg, the project reaffirms Vicenza’s importance as a European hub for jewellery and business events.
A symbolic start to redevelopment
The ceremony, attended by IEG leadership, local institutions, and national gold and jewellery trade associations, celebrated the project’s official launch. During the event, the project design was symbolically placed into the foundation stone by IEG President Maurizio Ermeti and architect Volkwin Marg, alongside Vicenza’s Mayor Giacomo Possamai and other institutional representatives.
