Frankfurt. London Technology Week organisers are expecting to host more than 30,000 people at over 100 separate events between 16-20 June, London & Partners revealed at their IMEX Frankfurt Hi-Tech Tea. The announcement comes as the Cities of Opportunity Index from professional services firm, PwC, said that London is “technologically on the top of its game.” The report also listed London as the world leader in economic influence, technology access, reputation as an urban gateway, and its development and design capabilities. The UK capital claimed the number one position ahead of New York, Singapore, Toronto, and San Francisco, improving on its third-place position in PwC’s 2013 index.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson has a vision to make London the tech capital of the world. He said: “There is nowhere to rival London – we have the talent, the investors, and the entrepreneurial spirit. I want London’s world-class tech sector to be as well known around the globe as our tourism, arts and financial services – it certainly deserves to be.”

London is now the biggest technology cluster in Europe with emerging start-ups setting up alongside global powerhouse brands such as Facebook, Twitter and Google. During the Hi-Tech Tea London & Partners explained how event planners can harness the city’s vibrant tech scene for their own benefit.

Speaking at the event Barbara Jamison, Head of Business Development Europe for London & Partners said: “London’s technology credentials are unrivalled right now in Europe. Tech City now spans the entire capital and with that comes ready access to some of the world’s most inspirational tech speakers, the opportunity to embed cutting-edge technology into your events, as well as a vital pool of potential sponsors on the doorstep. London Technology Week is a fantastic new event in our annual calendar and we hope that event planners around the world will be excited by the potential of London and inspired to bring their events to our city.”

Tey Mossadeghi from London tech business Blitz Communications also spoke at the Hi-Tech Tea. He added: “Event communications technology is evolving at a considerable pace. That combined with significant investment from London’s event community in technology and infrastructure means we are approaching a time where all these complimentary technologies will be truly integrated, making the city the leading destination of the Information Age.”

London Technology Week is organised by UBM Live, in association with London & Partners – the Mayor’s official organisation for London – ExCeL London and Tech London Advocates.
