In Kuala Lumpur, the Malaysia Business Events Week 2024 (MBEW2024) was officially inaugurated by Dr. Yasmeen binti Yasim, Deputy Secretary-General (Tourism) of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia. Organized by the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), MBEW2024 is a major annual event focused on the business events industry. Held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, this year’s event is themed “Business Events and Technology with Sustainability” (BEATS).

300 local and international delegates on day one

On its first day, MBEW2024 attracted around 300 local and international delegates, including top industry professionals, thought leaders, and innovators. The event will continue until August 22, featuring a variety of programs designed to shape the future of Malaysia’s business events industry.

“Every year, we look forward to elevating our MBEW as it reflects the country’s business events industry itself – dynamic, driven and responsible. These qualities have shaped this year’s theme, capturing the synergy between business events, technology and sustainability,” said Mohammad Isa Abdul Halim, Director, Meeting & Support Incentives of MyCEB.

Cooperation between MyCEB and Centexs Commercial Services

MBEW2024 also marked the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between MyCEB and Centexs Commercial Services (CCS), a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing skills development and innovation in the industry.

The week-long event started with pre-events like the Asia Convention Alliance Forum (ACAAF2) and EVENTXPO, organized by the Malaysian Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers. These pre-events, exclusive to invited trade partners, included international members from organizations such as the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and the Seoul Tourism Organisation (STO).

Expert panels, breakout sessions, and a bid workshop hosted by MyCEB

As the event progresses, delegates will have the opportunity to participate in expert panels, breakout sessions, and a bid workshop hosted by MyCEB. Additionally, a public consultation on Malaysian Standards for Business Events will be conducted by the Department of Standards Malaysia, offering further engagement opportunities for participants.
