Marina Bay Sands is set to undergo a significant expansion project, aiming to elevate its offerings and further bolster Singapore’s tourism appeal. Designed by Safdie Architects, the project is set to commence full-scale construction by July 2025, with a targeted completion date of July 2029. This expansion will feature a new luxurious hotel tower complete with a sky roof, a 15,000-seat entertainment arena, additional MICE spaces, and a fresh array of culinary and nightlife experiences.

According to a press release, the highlight is the planned arena, envisioned to become the premier live entertainment venue in Asia. By attracting top-tier performers from both Asia and around the globe, it promises to add a new dimension to Singapore’s entertainment landscape.

Moreover, the expanded MICE facilities are expected to draw more international events to the city-state, further solidifying its position as a hub for business gatherings.

High-Value Tourism Growth

Patrick Dumont, President and Chief Operating Officer of Las Vegas Sands, Marina Bay Sands’ parent company, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support of the Singaporean government. “It optimises the site’s programming elements and is designed to drive high-value tourism growth to Singapore,” Dumont said, “The all-suite hotel tower will set new standards of hospitality (…) and the additional convention and exhibition space will extend the success of Singapore as a leading MICE destination.”

In addition, Marina Bay Sands is investing $1.75 billion in reinventing its existing property, marking the largest such investment since its inauguration in 2010. This endeavour encompasses comprehensive refurbishments of the hotel towers, the introduction of new dining concepts, and the enhancement of luxury lifestyle amenities catered towards high-end travellers.

1,750 New Events Since Opening

Since its inception, Marina Bay Sands has been a cornerstone of Singapore’s tourism sector, welcoming over 470 million visitors and hosting more than 1,750 new-to-Singapore MICE events. Beyond its direct impact on tourism, the integrated resort has been a vital contributor to the local economy, generating employment opportunities for over 11,500 team members and fostering growth for small- and medium-sized enterprises.
