Novelties. Every year IBTM World is one of the leading B2B trade fairs of the meetings industry. From 19 to 21 November 2019, the 32nd edition of the established fair will take place in Barcelona. 15,000 experts from all over the world are expected at Fira Gran Via. There they will meet 2,800 international exhibitors.

In the run-up IBTM World event director David Thompson has announced new initiatives that will make their debut at the three- day event this year. Firstly, the exclusive Corporate Buyers Programme will offer C-suite planners added advantages. They will be able to network with peers in an exclusive setting and book appointments with exhibitors. A peer-led conference – addressing the issues facing corporate planners – is also part of the package. The World Association Programme will be staged for association event organisers. In partnership with the Association of Association Executives, it will deliver expert tailored insights on day two of the event (20).

Young talent will also find suitable platforms at IBTM World. Sponsored by Oman Convention Bureau and in partnership with ICCA, the “Forum for Young Professionals” will be held for the 12th time. 35 energised event professionals under 30 will learn from industry experts from 17 to 19 November and build an important network of contacts.

Another brand new feature for IBTM 2019 is Event Business Accelerator, an investment programme for young entrepreneurs. After a two-day mentoring programme, mentees will have the opportunity to convince investors of their product in live pitches on the stage of the new Accelerate Zone. In addition to a range of interactive discussion panels, there will also be sessions on the future of the industry in this new area. Among other things, former MPI President Mariska Kesteloo will lead the “Influencers of MICE” series of expert sessions. In addition, the World Tech Watch Award ceremony will take place there showcasing trailblazing event technology.

“The zone will allow us to combine elements from our year-round content, our mentoring scheme, as well as providing opportunities for on-site learning,” says Thompson. “IBTM is committed to paving the way for future industry talent, and this initiative, and indeed the entire Accelerate zone, are platforms to do this in a comprehensive and sustained way.”
