Since May 2002, the seven largest German convention centres have been acting jointly in the promotion of the convention location Germany within the marketing cooperation ‚SevenCenters of Germany’. In order to provide convention planners with an additional orientation guide in the organisation and realisation of future events, the SevenCenters have now passed standardized safety directives for their venues.
The regulations contain conform directives on the obligation to disclose and to obtain permits, on responsibilities, safety-related operating regulations and the house rules. Apart from fire regulations and occupational safety, the issues of health and environment protection, amongst others, will also be taken into account.
Numerous surveys – amongst others the ‚Meeting & Event Barometer’ of the GCB and EVVC – have proven that the German convention market stands for safety and high technical standards in particular. With the standardization of safety directives, SevenCenters aim to further optimize these aspects in their venues while making them even more customer-friendly.  ‘In this way, event planners will in the future find the same standards at our seven convention centres and will be able to get their bearings even faster’, declares Claudia Felius-Fisher, chairwoman of SevenCenters and head of Congress Frankfurt.
Following the unanimous resolution on standardized directives by SevenCenters last year, the members are now engaged in adapting them to local regulations and to lay all necessary foundations for the new regulations. The final implementation of the common directives will probably be possible as from summer 2010.
