Mainz. The expansion of the Rheingoldhalle of Congress Centre Mainz (CCM) has now progressed to the topping-out ceremony. 15 million euros are being invested “to gain or regain high-profile events for Mainz,” pointed out Lord Mayor Jens Beutel in his speech. This autumn will see the opening of the new Gutenbergsaal with a large glass facade for 1,340 guests and the Gutenbergfoyer with 1,700 sqm. This will add 3,200 sqm of additional space. Currently the CCM has a congress hall with 1,740 sqm, three further rooms (177 to 280 sqm) and the Goldsaal and Tiberiussaal with 480 and 128 sqm respectively in the adjacent Hilton. April 2007 will then see the German Building Technology Day. 1,200 engineers will meet for two days in the new CCM. www.ccmainz.de
