CIM: Why did you attend the WEF in Davos?
Sadhguru: Whatever you may be doing, fundamentally there is only one business in the world – that is human wellbeing, and that is my business, too. If the leaders of the world can handle business and economics in a more inclusive way – not as charity, but because it makes business sense to include all the 6.6bn people in the business process, it will make a huge difference for the wellbeing of all. As there is a science for external wellbeing, there is a science for inner wellbeing. I want to see the leaders of the world more joyful. Joyful people are more generous, more sensible, more flexible, and always more life-oriented.
You participated in four panels. What was your message to the global audience?
National identities are a big crippling force in the world. If business has to grow and prosper globally, the most important thing is to loosen this identity structure. We need to create a global identity within which your culture, nation, race, religion, everything can fit.
India is the home of yoga. What can it contribute to the wellbeing of people?
Outside situations are never 100 per cent in your control. And above all, not a single person in this world is exactly the way you want him to be. Yoga is the science and technology of making yourself the way you want to be. It empowers you in such a way that no matter where you are placed, you will be able to deal with outside issues with ease and to your full capabilities. You will be blissful and peaceful by your own nature.
Would it be good to integrate yogic aspects into conferences?
If yoga is a part of the conference, it will definitely empower people to conduct themselves in a very peaceful and joyful way, and this will in turn translate itself into a more effective and productive way of working and creating what we want to create. But since yoga is a very subtle science, it is extremely important that it is imparted in the purity and the essence of what it is; then definitely it would greatly enhance all conferences.
By the end of the year, many planners feel exhausted. How can they find their balance?
For people who can make a difference to the world in a big way, I would like to offer Isha Yoga free of cost. And I will assure you, that if they bring this simple process of Isha Yoga into their life, definitely they will not be exhausted or burnt out. Every activity will be a process of joy. You learn to conduct your body, mind, life energies and emotions in such a way that activity will be a hugely enhancing process, not a draining process in your life.
