Mallorca has become a prominent destination for business tourism, particularly in the MICE segment since the opening of Palma Congress Centre, a modern facility and a key venue in the Mediterranean for conferences and events.

In recent years, Mallorca has shown that it has a lot to offer to the business tourism. The cradle of European holiday tourism has become one of the focal points of the MICE segment with the opening of the Palma Congress Center. The island has strengthened its infrastructure and made a strategic commitment to diversify its products and occupy a new market niche, and this vision has not taken long to bear fruit.

The capital of the Balearic Islands, Palma, built this emblematic building next to the Paseo Maritimo itself, in a declaration of intent to crown itself as the new benchmark congress centre in the Mediterranean. Inaugurated in 2017, it is now a symbol of the city. It is an intelligent combination of efficiency, technology and innovation.

The complex, made up of the Congress Center (with two auditoriums that can seat almost 2000 and 500 people, numerous meeting rooms and several multipurpose spaces, such as the EXPO area) and a four-star hotel, is managed by Meliá Hotels International, whose experience in the destination has been key to its launch and consolidation. In addition, its accommodation capacity in the city (with more than 1,000 rooms in different hotels) and its own Food & Beverage team have become an added advantage for this congress centre, as it allows it to comprehensively manage all the accommodation, space and catering needs that business tourism requires.

As part of the company’s CSR policy, the Palma Congress Center has drawn up a roadmap to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through eco-efficient management, promoting a responsible product, promoting employability and supporting children as the cornerstone of its social commitment.

The Palma Congress Center has also integrated sustainable attributes as a differentiating value in its range of events and meetings by creating ecomeet, a sustainable event concept based on energy efficiency, the elimination of single-use plastics, the use of recycled materials, the minimization of waste and the measurement of the carbon footprint.
