The Convention Centre Dublin (CCD) has been awarded as Europe’s Leading Meetings & Conference Centre, affirming its status as a prime destination for business conferences.
Alongside other Irish winners like Teeling Whiskey Distillery and Luttrellstown Castle Resort, the CCD received recognition at the World Travel Awards event in Berlin, Germany. Stephen Meehan, the CEO of CCD, expressed gratitude for the acknowledgment and highlighted Ireland’s enduring appeal for business tourism. “This award, in particular, is always special as it’s voted for by our industry professionals and consumers. Together with the team back in Dublin, I would like to thank everyone who voted for us,” Meehan said.
The CCD has played host to over 2,200 events since opening in 2010 and has welcomed in excess of 1.1 million national and international delegates. Looking forward, events for 2024 include Women in Project Management Summit in March, the 16th European Glaucoma Society Congress in June and the Internet Engineering Task Force 121 in November.
Despite tough competition from prominent venues across Europe, including Austria Center Vienna, Fira Barcelona, Spain, Scandinavia XPO, Sweden and Grimaldi Forum, Monaco.
The World Travel Awards are voted for by travel and tourism professionals and business and leisure travel consumers worldwide and this accolade recognises the commitment to excellence that The CCD has demonstrated in the last twelve months.
