Spain. The Seville Conference & Exhibition Centre, FIBES, has announced that construction is well underway on their major new extension. The new state of the art building , boasting space, light, great versatility and sustainability has been designed by the acclaimed Spanish architect Guillermo Vázquez Consuegra, whose portfolio includes the award winning; National Subaquatic Archeology National Museum in Cartagena, Valencia Museum of the Age of Enlightenment and Castilla La Mancha Archives building in Toledo.

This new extension will be made up of three modules:

– A covered footbridge of 3,000 sqm joining the existing building to the new area – of particular interest to event and conference organisers will be the high level branding opportunities available both internally and externally in this walkway

– A multipurpose building offering an area of over 2,500 sqm for restaurants, a registration zone of 3,200 sqm and 18 multipurpose meeting rooms equipped with the latest technology.

– An auditorium with a capacity of over 3,500 people and a stage of 600 sqm with a proscenium of 23 m, which can be used for congresses and entertainment productions.

This will be the largest covered building in Spain and one of the biggest in Europe. It will enable Seville to host large congresses and conventions as well as trade shows and entertainment productions.  This auditorium will hold up to 3,590 people seated and thanks to a new, mobile closing system the space configuration can be altered quickly and efficiently as required.

The three modules of the building will be complemented by five floors of underground parking with a capacity of 801 vehicles of various sizes and as well as a parking area for 30 coaches. This additional meeting and exhibition space boasting the latest energy efficient technology will place the Seville Conference and Exhibition Centre, FIBES, in the position to catapult Seville towards the circuit of “Great Cities of the World” becoming an international focal point for great events.
