The GBTA Foundation, which is the charitable arm of the Global Business Travel Association (GBTA), has launched the GBTA Sustainable Procurement Standards. These standards will assist corporate travel buyers worldwide in making sustainable procurement decisions. Furthermore, they align with the Biden Administration’s pledge to promote sustainable travel practices.
Evaluating suppliers’ sustainability practices
The standards comprise a uniform set of questions for evaluating suppliers’ sustainability practices, beginning with the aviation sector. This resource is designed to simplify procurement processes and assist buyers in aligning with their organization’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities.
The GBTA Foundation collaborated with stakeholders, including over 50 leading business travel companies and sustainability standard setters, to develop these standards over 18 months. The Standards, which can be tailored to companies’ ESG priorities, consist of an educational guide and are accessible on the GBTA Foundation website. GBTA is planning to release standards for accommodations and ground transportation in 2024, followed by meetings and events standards in 2025.
Webinar on April 3rd
A free webinar on April 3 will provide insights into integrating these standards into procurement processes. GBTA will also share information at upcoming events. Moreover, GBTA provides a Sustainable Travel Management course for corporate travel managers.
