Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (“HKCEC”) was Hong Kong’s featured landmark again in the city’s biggest ever New Year countdown celebrations.  The eight-minute spectacular pyrotechnic musical “New Year‧New World – Hong Kong Countdown Celebrations” organised by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, showcased Hong Kong’s magnificent Victoria Harbour and city skyline with the HKCEC as the focal point. A gigantic LED screen was set up next to the HKCEC to display numerals “2014” when the clock stroke midnight.

The scale of this year’s show was the biggest in the event’s history, where fireworks were used for the first time, and were launched from seven buildings near the HKCEC. Pyrotechnics were also launched horizontally, crossing the harbour in six layers, creating a magical “pyrotechnic bridge”, illuminating a higher and wider area than in any previous editions.

Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Ltd (“HML”) was honoured to be involved in the planning and preparation stages, providing support and safety advice on this unique countdown event.  Ms Monica Lee-Müller, Managing Director of HML, said, “We are very proud that the HKCEC was chosen to be the iconic landmark of this spectacular for the second time. The pyrotechnic show was enjoyed not just by on-site spectators, but also by audiences around the world. We wish everyone all the very best in the year ahead.”
