In September 2024, the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) and Tourism New Zealand are collaborating to offer an in-person ICCA Skills course in Christchurch, New Zealand. This course provides an opportunity to attain internationally recognized certification in the meetings industry outside Europe.

ICCA Skills offers two certification tracks: CICS for junior professionals and CICE for management roles. The CICE course will take place from 10-12 September at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre and welcomes both international and New Zealand event professionals.

Bjoern Spreitzer, Tourism New Zealand General Manager NZ & Business Events, emphasizes the significance of investing in industry professionals to elevate New Zealand’s event sector. “Business Events are a key part of Tourism New Zealand’s strategy to attract high-quality visitors who positively benefit New Zealand’s nature, culture, society, and economy.”

ICCA CEO Senthil Gopinath underscores the value of in-person training and acknowledges Tourism New Zealand’s commitment to empowering industry professionals. “Positive feedback about the know-how and effectiveness of our expert instructors again shows the tangible value of attending courses designed for our industry, by our industry, especially in-person.”
