2017. The International Water Association’s Specialist Group (SG) confirms that the 12th International Conference on instrumentation, control and automation of water systems (ICA2017)  will meet at the Québec City Convention Centre June 12 to 14, 2017.

Some 400 international specialists will be in Québec City for the event. The participants will represent water utilities, consultants, academics and equipment manufacturers. The latter will also populate the exhibition where the latest in instrumentation and control equipment will be showcased.

The ambassador responsible for bringing the event to Québec City is Professor Peter A. Vanrolleghem, bioengineer and Canada Research Chair in Water Quality Modelling, and his modelEAU research team at Université Laval. He is internationally renowned for his vast experience and innovation (over 375 international peer reviewed publications) in the field of measurement of water quality and the use of sensors to improve processes for wastewater transport and treatment by process control and automation.

Professor Vanrolleghem, a native of Belgium, has wanted to bring the event to Québec City for many years. His determination paid off in 2013 when the 2017 edition was confirmed to be held in Québec City.

The last time the Conference met in North America goes back to 1993 in Hamilton, Ontario.
