Kuala Lumpur. Earth Hour can be an engaging and fun educational platform for the younger generation and the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre decided to spread the message of climate change to the young in a different way by providing a movie screening to promote environmental sustainability. Championing the global Earth Hour, the Centre was committed to create greater awareness of environmental protection amongst team members and their children especially, through a local 3D animated film based on the same topic. More than 300 team members and their families turned up to show support for this initiative.
Speaking at the gathering, the Centre’s Deputy General Manager, Alan Pryor said the Centre’s participation in the annual Earth Hour is “very much part and parcel of our sustainability agenda to contribute towards enhancing awareness of and concern for global warming. But, we wanted to do more than just switching off the lights this year. We wanted to educate the younger generation on our nature and environment. We also wanted to create an opportunity for team members and their family to spend some quality time together. And what better way than watching a movie together!”
The event ended at 8.30pm, when the Centre joined the global community in showing their support for the environment by switching off its façade lighting and non-essential lighting for one hour on Saturday, 23 March.
