Statistics. London has risen five places from 19th place to 14th place in The ICCA Statistics report (ICCA Rankings) over the last two years. The 2010 figures, which were published in an initial summary report, were issued by the International Congress & Convention Association last week. The full report will be released next month.
The figures highlight London’s upward journey on the annual association’s rankings which also boosted the UK’s overall position to 4th globally.London’s move of two places in the worldwide ranking from 16th – 14th from 2009 figures is calculated by a number of eligible meetings per city. London’s place in 2008 was 19th.
Becky Graveney, Head of Associations at London & Partners (the official convention bureau for London) commented: “We’re very pleased with the advance on the ICCA city rankings. London and Partners’ objective was to ensure that London reaches the top 10 within the next 5 years, so we’re well on target for that ambition and we hope to see more of a jump now we have major city benefits such as the opening of London’s first ICC at ExCeL and so many more hotels and venues which are opening due to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.”
