The Malaysian Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (MACEOS) takes a proactive stance on sustainability, forging partnerships, and implementing initiatives to drive the business events industry towards a greener future.

At the Malaysia Business Events Awards (MBEA) and Gala Dinner, the Malaysian Association of Convention & Exhibition Organisers & Suppliers (MACEOS) emphasized its commitment to sustainability in the business events industry. MACEOS President Francis Teo outlined the association’s dedication to promoting sustainability through awards recognition, standards development, and partnerships. Teo announced MACEOS’s support for the Net Zero Carbon Events initiative and its partnership with Yayasan Hijau Malaysia to integrate sustainable practices into the industry through awareness and training programs.

“MACEOS is supporting the global initiative Net Zero Carbon Events, and hopes that each and everyone here will do so as well. With sustainability growing from a simple catchphrase to concrete actions, we all need to play our part to ensure that Business Events becomes the solution, not the problem,” Teo said.

The CEO of the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), Azman Haji Tambi Chik, commended MACEOS for its proactive stance and acknowledged the importance of sustainability in maintaining the industry’s relevance. “MyCEB is delighted to bolster MACEOS on its path towards growth, development, and sustainability, along with the business events industry stakeholers. MBEA is a powerful gathering that recognises the great efforts of our industry players and MACEOS has been a strategic drivier in uplifting the business events industry in order to ensure we collectively maintain relevance and remain an influential force.”

The second MBEA event recognized industry professionals who implemented sustainable event solutions alongside innovative concepts. MACEOS also collaborated with Jabatan Standards Malaysia to develop quality benchmarks for the business events sector.

Teo highlighted two upcoming events: BE in Sabah, aimed at positioning Sabah as a preferred destination for business events, and EventXpo, designed to connect businesses with the gig community and foster collaboration to enhance the Business Events economy. These initiatives underscore MACEOS’s commitment to digital transformation, professional standards, community strength, and growth-oriented mindset in the industry.
