GBTA. The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) announced that it will host the African Energy & Resources Travel Symposium in Cape Town on 3rd and 4th July 2013. This is the sixth event in 2013 for GBTA in this sector after the association’s inaugural symposium in Europe in 2011.

The new event will feature several senior industry buyers from the sector who will also form the event’s steering committee. Wings Travel Management, specialists in energy-related travel, has committed to the event as a founding supporter, having already supported launch events in Europe and Rio de Janeiro.

GBTA also is planning events across this sector in Perth, Australia; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Calgary, Canada, and is due to announce an event in the USA, too. ”Oil, Gas & Mining are Africa’s biggest economic drivers and the business travel professionals who work for these companies in South Africa and the wider African continent will benefit greatly from an event dedicated to their needs,” said Jacky Maulgue, GBTA’s Regional Director of Operations − Africa.

The GBTA Africa Energy & Resources Travel Symposium expects to attract 80-100 delegates from South Africa and other energy and resource centres across the wider African continent.

Registration will open in late March, but with capacity limited, professionals are invited to register for a priority list by contacting jmaulgue@gbta.org.

The Global Business Travel Association (GBTA) is the world’s premier business travel and meetings organization. Collectively, GBTA’s 5,000-plus members manage over $340 billion of global business travel and meetings expenditures annually. GBTA provides its network of 17,000 business and government travel and meetings managers, as well as travel service providers, with networking events, news, education & professional development, research, and advocacy.
