Rimini. The inauguration and the official start-up of Rimini’s new Palacongressi convention centre have been postponed. The complex is ready, work has been concluded, but problems linked to permits for opening the facilities have emerged over the last few days and are preventing the inaugural ceremony from taking place as scheduled on 25 September.
The construction company, Cofely of the Gruppo Gaz de France, commissioned by Società del Palazzo dei Congressi Spa, is working on a plan to be submitted to the competent authorities in order to overcome the problems that have arisen. If the plan is approved by the authorities, it will allow the convention centre to be opened and for business to start in a reasonably short time.
In the meantime, Convention Bureau della Riviera di Rimini has transferred the three conventions due to take place in the new complex this week, along with those scheduled in the short term, to the current Palacongressi and to the pavilions of the Rimini Fiera expo centre.
