Sydney. Tourism Australia will leverage the Shanghai World Expo 2010 to showcase Australia as a business events destination with a range of marketing activities. Australia will have a significant national presence at the Expo, which is expected to attract 70 to 80 million visitors and will be the largest expo the world has ever seen. From 1 May to 31 October 2010, Australia’s visually striking national pavilion will showcase Australian innovation, creativity and achievements to some 7 million visitors mostly from mainland China – an average of 38,000 people on each of the 184 days of the Expo.

Visitors to the Australia Pavilion at the Expo will “sample” Australia and provide Tourism Australia and our industry with an unprecedented opportunity to sell Australia in the growth market of China. For business events, the target audience will be incentive travel organisers. Messaging and information will be targeted through a VIP program and demonstrate Australia’s unique experiences and ability to deliver tailored incentive programs.
