At the start of this year, Therese Karlsson became the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre and Gothia Towers’ new International Account Manager, Congress & Events. This new recruitment reportedly marks “an increased drive to acquire more international meeting customers and attract more and larger meetings and conferences to Gothenburg”.

Karlsson joins us from Turistrådet Västsverige (West Sweden Tourist Board) where she was responsible for international sales and travel and for marketing western Sweden as a destination in Europe.

“Offering international companies a complete, flexible one-stop-shop solution with all the Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre’s products and services —all under one roof, with a strong focus on service and sustainability, is a privilege and a wonderful challenge”, Karlsson says. To find out about the venue, you can contact Therese Karlsson via mail.

The Congress & Events department, which focuses on large meetings, currently comprises four Account Managers covering all meeting segments: business meetings and organisational meetings, both national and international. The unit markets and contracts value-generating meeting experiences with several hundred to thousands of participants.

“Therese’s international experience will, without a doubt, serve her very well in her new role,” says Malin Erlandsson, Director Meetings, Congress & Events, Meetings business unit, at Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre and Gothia Towers.

According to a press release, the centre notices a surge in interest in physical meetings. “The pandemic has clearly shown that meetings and events are crucial in providing channels and activities for companies’ and organisations’ growth, through training, innovation, product demos and, not least, as an opportunity to promote companionship and culture,” Malin says.

Karlsson’s first major international customer activity will be IMEX Frankfurt.
