Two years after its opening, the Berlin Senate has declared the heavily indebted Tempodrom centre insolvent. Selling it would have been even more expensive, the federal state is still the guarantor for the 10.2m-euro loan from 2000. The head of Berlin’s SPD party and urban development senator Peter Strieder has resigned from both offices.
