The Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and the Thailand Incentive and Convention Association (TICA) have joined forces to promote unique Meetings and Incentives (M&I) experiences in different regions of Thailand. They aim to offer authentic local experiences to M&I attendees, aligning with recent research that shows a preference for authenticity over luxury.

As part of the Thailand Go Strategy, TCEB is collaborating with local communities to create MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) routes in each province. They are also developing the Product MICE premium program, which turns local products and services into souvenirs, snacks, or gifts to support the local economy. Education is a key component of this initiative, focusing on event planners and local suppliers.

TCEB’s M&I department supported TICA in organizing the TICA Destination Update, which included a trip to Chiang Rai for Thai Destination Management Companies (DMCs). Chiang Rai, known for its traditional arts, crafts, tea, coffee, and scenic mountains, offers authentic attractions for incentive travel programs.

During the trip, participants engaged in community-based tourism activities led by locals, visited five-star properties, explored tea and coffee plantations, and enjoyed northern Thai cuisine. They also learned about local crafts, textiles, herbal soap, and more.

TCEB continues to work with local communities to enhance MICE capabilities within seven themes, including history and culture, adventure, team building, CSR, luxury, and culinary experiences, to better support event planners in providing authentic local experiences.
