Fairs. The number of international visitors at German fairs saw a sharp rise in 2004. A total of 2.28m visitors travelled to Germany from abroad to attend our fairs. The record rate so far was 2.1 million in 2001. A recently completed AUMA survey shows that 78 per cent of all visitors in 2004 were European, while 500,000 came from overseas, including 285,000 Asians, 140,000 American delegates and 55,000 Africans. Since 2000 the number of Europeans has dropped by four percentage points, while the Asian share rose by almost the same amount. www.auma-messen.de
