Datu Hii, currently the Deputy Sarawak State Secretary (Operation), brings a wealth of experience to his new role. The Honourable Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, praised the appointment as “timely and strategic,” highlighting Datu Hii’s ability to bridge strategy and execution.
Datu Hii outlines a clear vision for BESarawak, focusing on three pillars: transformation and innovation, impact and legacy, and partnerships and people. He plans to implement five key focus areas: destination development, market diversification, digital transformation, sustainability leadership, and talent development.
Proven Experience
With over 30 years in the public sector, Datu Hii’s career includes significant contributions to business events and tourism. He recently chaired the Legacy Event Advocacy Policy (LEAP) Summit, leading to the Borneo Legacy Declaration. Amelia Roziman, CEO of BESarawak, expressed confidence that Datu Hii’s appointment “marks a new chapter for Sarawak’s business events industry, balancing continuity with fresh ambition.”
