The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) has appointed Garima Singh as its new Sustainability Manager, expanding its commitment to sustainability. With this addition, the venue now has a team of two dedicated members focused on driving its sustainability ambitions, including the goal of achieving Net Zero status by 2030.

In the previous year, the SEC had already announced its commitment to becoming a net zero campus and had introduced various sustainable initiatives. One notable accomplishment was the SEC’s OVO Hydro becoming the first arena in the world to achieve ‘Greener Arena’ status. Additionally, the SEC successfully eliminated single-use plastic cups by introducing reusable ‘Stack-Cups’ at live events across its campus.

These efforts have not gone unnoticed, as the SEC received the Green Meetings Gold Award in 2022 and has retained the Green Tourism Award for the 13th consecutive year. The SEC’s contribution to hosting the COP26 summit in 2021, where global discussions on accelerating action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change took place, also received acclaim.

Garima, who holds a Masters in Environmental and Climate Change law, brings a background in the commercial and legal sectors, including experience in assisting companies to become more sustainable. She expressed her enthusiasm for joining SEC and contributing to its ambitious goals.
